The Square<\/h1>\n

The restaurant was opened by owner and head chef, Nuno Rosado in August 2013.<\/p>\n

The wide variety of spices we use are influenced by Portugal\u2019s former colonies, including piri-piri (hence chicken piri-piri), black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla and saffron. Olive oil, garlic, coriander and parsley are some of the many simple ingredients that we use to flavour our meals.<\/p>\n

Given that Portugal is a seafaring nation and has a well-developed fishing industry, we aim to reflect this in the sheer diversity of fish and seafood dishes we offer. Fish is served grilled, boiled (including poached and simmered), fried, stewed in clay pots and even roasted. One of the most famous Portuguese dishes we cook is bacalhau. It is said there are more than 365 ways to cook bacalhau, one for every day of the year.<\/p>\n

Although we are well known for our seafood, we have an extensive menu for the meat-eater and vegetarian options.<\/p>\n

\n

The Venue<\/h1>\n

We are situated in Market Place just by the Town Hall. Either come inside to our restaurant where the athmosphere is cosy and relaxed or sit outside, weather permitting, and watch the world go by as you drink a glass of vinho verde with a few oysters.<\/p>\n

Nuno was born in Sagres a fishing village, on the most south-easterly point in the Algarve. Both his father and grandfather were fishermen and were excellent cooks.<\/p>\n

Nuno came to Henley some 25 years ago and fell in love with the beautiful town and the River Thames. Since then he has worked as a chef at Casa Nostra, famous for being one of the longest standing restaurants in town and for its excellent Italian cuisine.<\/p>\n

His aim at The Square is to serve excellent food, simply cooked with the freshest of ingredients.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
